Varsey Rhododendron Sanctuary
Why Varsey Rhododendron Sanctuary?
The Varsey trek in the Singalila range of West Sikkim takes you through what may be the densest rhododendron forest in the eastern Himalaya — 24 species blooming at once in April across high ridges above 3,000m. Starting from Uttarey village, the three-day route passes through oak-forest to sub-alpine meadows, with Kanchenjunga and Kabru filling the northern sky. Far quieter than the Goechala circuit, Varsey is the trekker's alternative to a crowded trail.
