Gangtok
The Cloud Capital
Ground notes
Why Gangtok?
Gangtok sits at 1,650m on a ridge that bends around the Ranipool valley. Former capital of the Kingdom of Sikkim, it is now a remarkably clean, well-planned Himalayan city where litter is fined and smoking on MG Marg is forbidden. Use it as a base for Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir, Rumtek Monastery and some of the best coffee houses east of Darjeeling.
