Why Mirik?

Mirik is built around Sumendu Lake at 1,495m — a narrow, calm body of water with a pine-lined footpath on one shore and a bridle track for hillside ponies on the other. Famous for Thurbo, Okayti and Singbulli tea estates that surround it, and for January orange orchards that glow against the fog, Mirik is the easiest detour from NJP for travellers who want hill peace without the crowds of Darjeeling.
